There Are Numerous Opportunities At The YMCA! Despite its name, the YMCA is not just for the young, not just for men and not just for Christians. It is, however, an association of members who come together with a common understanding of and commitment to the YMCA mission and the YMCA's vision of building strong kids, strong families and strong communities.

Our goal is to turn no one away from YMCA programs or services due to an inability to pay.  This is made possible by We Build People, the annual charitable-giving program of the YMCA of Greensboro. 

The YMCA, as well as those recipients who benefit from your assistance, would like to thank you for helping to make a difference in your neighbors’ lives.  Learn more about We Build People here in these documents:

Volunteering

VOLUNTEER
Whatever the facilities, whatever the programs, what doesn't change at the YMCA are the people - the dedicated group of volunteers, staff, members and donors - that make up the Y.  You can help by giving your time and talents!

Membership
Welcome and introduce members, prospective members and program participants.

  • Assist with facility tours
  • Assist with mailings, bulleting boards and special events

"Bright Beginnings" Coordinator 

  • Volunteers to go shopping with children
  • Volunteer to assist with program organization

Coaching as Volunteer Coach

  • All youth sports such as basketball, soccer, flag football and T-ball.

And Many Other Ways

  • Nursery help
  • Working with active older adults
  • Landscaping
  • Clerical Assistance
  • Event Planning
  • and more!
