There Are Numerous Opportunities At The YMCA! Despite its name, the YMCA is not just for the young, not just for men and not just for Christians. It is, however, an association of members who come together with a common understanding of and commitment to the YMCA mission and the YMCA's vision of building strong kids, strong families and strong communities.

2010 We Build People Campaign
Helping People Who Need the YMCA
Our goal is to turn no one away from YMCA programs or services due to an inability to pay. This is made possible by We Build People, the annual charitable-giving program of the YMCA of Greensboro.
The YMCA, as well as those recipients who benefit from your assistance, would like to thank you for helping to make a difference in your neighbors’ lives. Learn more about We Build People here in these documents:

Bright Beginnings Program
The purpose of YMCA Bright Beginnings is to outfit children with confidence and the tools they need to start the school year with success. Bright Beginnings has helped deserving children with needed school supplies and new clothes for 11 years. The Bryan YMCA this year helped 100 children, who are referred to the Y by local schools, churches, and social service agencies. The Y raises money and school supplies, then recruits volunteers and deserving children.
In August, volunteers and kids came to the Y, were matched as shopping buddies, and boarded the Y bus as a group to go shopping at Wal-Mart. Together, kids and volunteer buddies selected school clothes (outfits, shoes, socks, underwear, and jacket). The Y gave each child a book bag with school supplies. Although the experience was only about 3 hours, volunteers say it is one of the most rewarding with some volunteers helping out all three nights.
The Bryan YMCA would like to thank each of our wonderful volunteers who helped out and made a difference and each of these children's lives. We would also like to thank the Wal-Mart on Elm St. for its generosity with snacks and having all the clothes we need on hand for us. Last, but not least we would like to thank Lincoln Financial for its very generous donation that allowed the Bryan YMCA to take 100 kids shopping. Thank you to all of those who helped and we look forward to seeing you again next year!"

The Bryan Family YMCA would like to thank all those who helped to make the 1st Annual Grace Evans Swim-A-Thon a huge success! With the help of our Downtown Dashers, the Masters Swim team, and generous members and friends, we were able to raise over $1,200 for the Bryan Family YMCA Annual We Build People Campaign.
Thank you all so much for your help making this event such a success!
