VISITING OTHER YMCAS

When you join a YMCA, you become part of a national movement of 17.9 million members in more than 2,400 local YMCA associations. Because each YMCA is an autonomous, not-for-profit (and not a franchise) local YMCA policies vary on the use of equipment, facilities, services and programs by visiting members from out-of-town or from nearby YMCAs.

The YMCA of Greensboro is a member of the A.W.A.Y. (Always Welcome at a Y) program. The A.W.A.Y. program allows other YMCA members to use our facilities at no charge if their "home" YMCA is more than 50 miles away, and they are not eligible for a Triad or Metro membership and they must present an active membership card.

These visiting members will be allowed to visit our facility four times a month with no charge. Any additional visits will require the purchase of a $5 guest pass.

If you are a member of the YMCA of Greensboro and want to visit another YMCA, we recommend calling ahead to find out about their visiting member program.

GUEST POLICIES

Members are able to bring visitors for $10 a day for adults and $5 a day for youth and teens. Members are responsible for their guests at all times. Please note that Monday to Friday, we do not sell guest passes after 3:00 p.m. for those under 18 years old and all guests must be out of the facility by 4:00 p.m. This policy is for the comfort and convince of our members.

ARMED SERVICES MEMBERS

The Armed Services YMCA, the Department of Defense and YMCA of the USA have joined forces in a new initiative to address the needs of families of deployed military personnel living far from a military installation who require YMCA support and programming. The Armed Services YMCA and Department of Defense Outreach Initiative ("Outreach Initiative") provides $31 million in government funding for families to receive memberships at full-facility YMCAs in their communities. This iniitative will serve family members of deployed reservists and national guardsmen. For questions or to sign up, please contact Julie Brannon.

The mission of the YMCA of Greensboro is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. The YMCA's goal is to include everyone, regardless of ability to pay full price. Financial assistance in the form of scholarships is made possible through the “Open Doors” program, funded by the Y’s annual giving campaign.
