The Bryan Family YMCA offers a variety of fitness classes and programs for you and your family to choose from.  Along with our traditional step aerobics, cycle and yoga classes, we also offer Personal Training and Wellness Evaluations.

Bryan Family YMCA Fitness Classes

The Bryan YMCA offers over 40 aerobics classes a week with a wide variety of all levels to suit individual needs. Please see link to schedules and class descriptions below. Please Note: Participants must be at least 14 years old to participate in any of the aerobic, yoga, or cycle classes.

Tai Chi Classes

T'ai Chi Ch'uan ("tie-chee-chwan") is an ancient, Chinese   martial art. This system incorporates exercise, meditation, and self-defense into a flowing series of gentle movements and postures. T'ai Chi's hallmarks of non-violence, harmony, yielding, and neutralization are based on Taoist philosophy, demonstrated by the yin-yang symbol. Experience serenity,
balance, strength, and flexibility through this life-enriching path of rejuvenation and self-actualization!

Your instructor, Eric Reiss, has practiced the art of T'ai Chi Ch'uan since 1973. He apprenticed for twelve years and was certified to teach under the guidance of a famous master, Dr. Marshall Ho'o. In 1999, Mr. Reiss founded the Silk Tiger School of T'ai Chi Ch'uan. He continues teaching throughout the
Piedmont.

Tae Kwon Do Classes

The Bryan Family YMCA has Tae Kwon Do classes available for both children(ages 5 and up) and adults.  Regina Epps, from Greensboro Black Belt Academy, is your instructor. Classes include basics and forms, self defense and kicking and sparring. Please contact Regina Epps at 255-6214 for more information.

West African Dance Classes

Come dance, have fun, and learn about the West African Culture!!!!  Mr. Wesley L. Wiliams is now offering a West African Dance Class at the Bryan Family YMCA.  Classes are held on Fridays at 6:45 pm and on Sundays at 4:30 pm.   All levels are welcomed.  For more information, please contact Wesley Williams at 336-681-0837 or by email at urbandanc2003@yahoo.com

 

 

Bryan Family YMCA Fitness Programs

Personal Training

Meet one-on-one with a certified trainer to assist you in reaching your personal fitness goals.  Sessions are one hour long or may be split into 30 minute sessions at trainer's discretion.

Fees Per Session:  $35 YMCA Members      $50 Non-Members

Wellness Evaluation

This evaluation consists of a 1-hour session designed to assess current fitness levels and provide training recommendations for reaching personal goals.  The evaluation includes body composition, flexibility, strength, endurance, and cardiovascular tests.

Fees Per Evaluation:  $15 YMCA Members Only

Body Compostion Analysis Only:  $5

 

Teen Certification

The Teen Certification Class is a class that will allow Teens, ages 14-16 to use the fitness center at their YMCA without having a parent or guardian present.  Classes will be offered at vairous times throughout the month at each branch of the Greensboro YMCAs, so if you cannot make it to your branch's class, try for another. The class is divided into three major portions: a practical portion, a lecture portion, and a testing portion. "Family Time" is a designated time in which children between the ages of 9 and 13 are allowed to use the cardio equipment in our fitness center under the supervision of their parent(s).

Running Club

Tired of running in circles?  Come join the Downtown Dashers at Bryan Family YMCA on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 a.m.  All runs are organized, and levels are welcome.  For more information, contact Naomi Ballen at naomiballen@hotmail.com.

Summer Basic Training

When: Monday July 7th 6:30am – 7:30am
Workouts will be held 6:30am – 7:30am Monday – Thursday

Where: Meet in the YMCA lobby

Why: A three week training Program designed to challenge all fitness levels

Cost: $60.00 members/$80 non-member (please register at the Front desk)
